Skiing this winter
I have been skiing in the winter on Fern Mountain for the past twenty years or so. Some trails have been unusually difficult this year, presumably because of the weather. There have been a lot of crater like holes with water in them in places where I have never seen this before. The bridges over the water on the trail to "Lake View Loop"... more »

Looking for trail maps and recommendations
Hello all, I've been to the beautiful Inlet 3 times so far and will be returning this summer to camp/canoe/hike with a friend of mine. We're having trouble finding good trail maps for the Inlet area. Even harder to come by are maps that cover all of the Fulton Chain lakes without cutting them in two somewhere.... more »

The photo of Black Bear Mountain on your home page is stunning. Where is that trail -- and what's it like -- if I were interesting in hiking it? Thank you. Mary Beth Roach

1) recent Fern Mt trail work; 2) volunteers needed for brushing
The Inlet Parks Department trail crew has been busy out on Fern Mt. Check out the pictures on our Files Page (IMGP0305tn.jpg & IMGP0306tn.jpg). They installed several long-needed stream crossings and added drainage, wood chips & signs. Of course there's always more to do but keep up the great work guys!... more »

Woodhull Loop - 6/3/07
Route: started from Otter Lake, 28 to McKeever, trail to Remsen Falls, back up from the falls, across the trail and past the barrier, left on the gravel road, right on the trail to Woodhull Lake, continue to Woodhull Road/Jeep trail and out onto Bear Creek Road and 28 back to Otter Lake. This was a nice loop, must be around 25 miles. I was on my old rigid... more »

Moss, Bub and Sis Lake Loop - 6/2/07
Route: started from the new trailhead parking lot on 28 and took the trail along 28, Big Moose Road to Moss Lake, spur to Bub and Sis and back to 28. It was so much fun, we rode around Moss twice before taking the spur to Bub and Sis. The route's totally clear of blowdown and there's just a few wet areas past Sis that can be cleaned if you are skilled... more »

Otter Lake-Brandy Lake-Round Lake Road 5/26/07
Route: snowmobile trail, from the dam at the end of Lake View Road on Otter Lake, past Brandy Lake to Round Lake Road near the Masonic Camp. The first part of the trail, along the outlet, has some very wet areas and several sections that you have to walk around, but once you climb a little above the stream, the trail is dry and clear, past the trail... more »
