Leave Replacement Faculty Positions at Reed College:

The Chemistry department invites applications for two visiting positions at
the Assistant Professor level. One position will be in the area of Organic
Chemistry and the successful candidate will participate in the teaching of
the sophomore-level Organic Chemistry course as well as upper division
courses in Structural Organic Chemistry and/or Synthetic Organic Chemistry.
We anticipate that this will be a two-year position.

The other position is in the field of Physical Biochemistry and will be
filled by an individual capable of offering a course in Structural
Biochemistry. In addition, candidates will be expected to participate in the
General Chemistry sequence or a chemistry course offered primarily for
non-science majors. This appointment will be for one year.

Both individuals will be expected to involve senior thesis students in
original research. Excellent facilities for teaching and research are
available, including a 300 MHz multinuclear NMR housed in a new (1992)
dedicated chemistry building. Ph.D. is required; postdoctoral experience
preferred but not required. Submit curriculum vitae, an outline of research
interests, statement of teaching philosophy, and arrange to have three
letters of recommendation sent to Prof. Ronald W. McClard, Chair, Chemistry
Search Committee, Reed College, 3203 S.E. Woodstock Blvd., Portland, OR
97202-8199, no later than January 31, 1995. Reed College is an EO/AA
employer.
