Hey folks / fellow toon nerds!
How about meeting up online and discussing ideas on improving access,
monetizing our creations and generally discussing best practices and
sharing our woes?
I am based on Delhi. So folks in Delhi, perhaps we could make a start?

Hi,
I live in Delhi too... I'm open for a meet.
For some time I've been planning to set up a meta-webcomic at indianwebcomics.com. A blog about Indian webcomics.. something like a gallery of our work, and a how-to-start section. (right now it's pointing to my comic, for the google juice :P )
Me and Anshul (brainstuck) were talking about this... but it never progressed beyond that... if anyone is interested, feel free to jump in.
Will it be like those regular Bloggers' Meets where everyone introduces themselves as "Hi, I am xyz, and my blog is ABC. I have been blogging for 2 years, although lately I havent been able to blog much." then later on some loudmouth bastard starts talking about social media ethics and shit, and it quickly dissolves into a soapbox for the loudest mouth in the room? :-)
Anyway I'm in.....

Nice... I had this similar idea of meeting up.. spoke to iyermatters sometime back as both of us live in Bengaluru...but it never really took off...
Some questions (and some answers):
-Where to find copyright laws of India? (http://copyright.gov.in/handbook.htm)
-What are the current price tags in illustration field in India? How much do these editorial / news paper illustrators charge? (BTW, have you guys noticed?... R K Laxman's line work in TOI is showing his age... either it is getting worse day by day... or he is least bothered about it because of cozy contract for next few years. His common man is turning to look like a rat or something...)
-We should have some standard sample template for agreement between parties for illustrations. I know there is artists guild book available in US. Not sure how the agreements are done here...--

Saad, that intro is usually called one minute of fame... you can't take that away from bloggers, everyone loves fame and not everyone is famous like you are. :p

R.K.Laxman suffered a paralytic stroke in 2003 and his artwork hasn't
been the same since.
I often think about how painful it must be for him that he cannot draw
like he used to, to the high standards that he set for the rest of us
to follow.

I thought the point was having an event page for the meetups..... now it's deciding who will design the logo, then it'll be choosing the best logo.... by next year we'll have the "should we make the background blue or keep it white for a web 2.0 look" discussion...
