Dr. Tirvengadum is the world expert on thorny members (including your plant) of Rubiaceae, and you are also seem to be interested in this group. 

Pl. check it for Meyna laxiflora, if it matches then its Tamil name is 'Manakkaarai''. Marathi name: 'Alu'. The fruits are said to be edible.

Yes Dinesh ji, you are right.

The synonyms are Randia uliginosa & Xeromphis uliginosa.

Tamil Names: Kali kaarai, Peru kaarai; Hindi name: Pindalu; Marathi name: Pendari
