Hi all,

Mailing after a very long time indeed.

These are the images of Ipomoea carnea I clicked in Nashik in the month of Feb this year.

This is a potent toxic species growing abundantly on the country side.

The toxic principles of I. carnea are the alkaloids Swainsonine and Calystegines B1, B2, B3 and Cl.

The toxicity is generally observed amongst herbivores grazing in areas where the weed is abundant.

The manifestation of toxic symptoms may be in form of Incoordination, paresis (partial paralysis), and a star gazing posture.

Hope you like them.

cheers

Gautam.

Dr. Gautam
what you say is true.
but Dr, Piska from Hyderabad when did experiments on this plant, he found out that the plankton density increses around the pices of these plants if kept floting in water. hence is useful in fish breeding
i am a new member, i donot know why the replies go to the person sending the mail and not to yahoo group.
i am a member of many yahoo groups where the reply comes to group and not indivisual

Hi, Madhuri ji,
I think the following from posting guidelines will clarify your doubts:

"6. If you reply to a posting, your message can be sent to the whole group or just to the author. If the reply is only of interest to the author or is personal, please use "Reply". All members are requested to either 'Reply',  'Reply to all' or 'Forward' at the bottom of the mail (Don't use other methods), so that links/ messages/ mails don't break off. Due to this we are not able to link messages properly on Indiantreepix Database along with other problems."
