Here is a female of the Child Life tree with only a few small "olives".
This is in a park at Chennai.
The habit of the tree is distinctive.

Picture .062.jpg doesn't resemble Putranjiva Roxburghii.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Dear Rakesh Ji,

If you are not comfortable with 062. jpg then same I hope is your response for 061.jpg . I will like to interpret the photos in this way that 062 & 061 are older and mature leaves where as 063 & 064 are of young ones (or may be from a different plant).

Regards

Tanay

Dear Rakesh ji,

I think all the pictures are of Putranjiva roxburghii (now Drypetes roxburghii) only, as identified by Padmini ji.

With regards

Because of the zoomed picture image it appears as if the leaves are larger in first image. The colour also is more greener. All are I suppose Putranjiva roxburghii. Attaching my images of the flowers taken in April 2010

I would like to clarify that they are all pics of the same tree, taken at the same time, last Saturday.
( Last year, the fruit was more plentiful and larger.)

Hindi -पितौजिया, जियापोथा.
This is very funny
In sanskrit its called Putranjiva (CHILD) on which the name of the
taxa was based. In hindi its called PITONJI!!! (FATHER) and also
called JIYAPOTHA (GRANDSON)...
Its kind of good it is now known as Drypetes....as confusions
cleared!!!!
