According to [2], the shape of the corolla should be rotate-pentagonal, not star shaped like in your specimen. Furthermore, the style should be straight, the picture clearly shows a curved style. I was trying to find best match other than S. wendlandii (which has deeply dissected leaves, especially lower), a woody climber with curved prickles and purple flowers. I think you have hit the right choice. I hope it is an important medicinal plant.

Yes, I agree with Vijaysankarji. Armed undershrub, leaves not
exceeding 5 cm, petioles and pedicels prickly would be S. trilobatum.

Yes Gurcharan ji,

S. trilobatum (Thoodhuvelai in Tamil) is a popular medicinal plant used mainly for the treatment of breathing troubles. Leaves are also used as vegetable. There is a white-flowered form (but I have seen only blue-violet flowers in the wild). It is indigenous in India, and Garg ji's pictures are from Krishna Wildlife Sanctuary, Andhra Pradesh (so must be wild).
S. wendlandii, as you know, is an American plant and is completely a different one.
