On 18/3/08 at 23 Mile, Duars, West Bengal in the core area of the forest. It was leafless with fruits fallen at ground. Sh. Subhankar Patra, who was with me, told me about the Id of this tree.
I hope the Id is correct. Fruit appears a bit confusing with Baheda (Terminalia bellirica) to me. I don't any other shots. Hi Mr.Garg,
It does look like Terminalia chebula [locally
called Hirda].
Sending you a photograph of one for comparison.
Regards,
Neil.

A reply:
"The fruits are  definitely do not belong to  T.chebula.  The fruits
look like those of T.bellerica (Bahera).  The fruits are not spherical
in Chebula.  Roughly spindle shaped and not smooth." from Mahadeswara ji.
