This is plant also called beach morning glory because it extensively grows in the sandy soil of the beaches as thick mat. It is  also one of the rare halophytic species of Ipomoea, most widely distributed halophytic vines all over the tropical regions of the world.. They have capacity to tolerate high salt concentration. They use the sea water are an agent of seed dispersal , as the seeds have special covering the saline waters have no effect over it. this plant is used as a sand binder all over the world to decrease the sand erosion in the beaches.
