Thanks for correcting me.  The Butea monosperma went by unnoticed in the Delhi tree book.  Alan

Can you post close up of the leaves or flowers. To me, flowers & leaves appear more like Bombax ceiba.

Yes, the unopened buds are very much like Bombax ceiba.

Leaves definitely look like those of Bombax.Flowers a bit different but not like Butea either.

Here is a reply from Alan:
"On closer inspection of leaves of Butea monosperma, typical legume formation, the tree I saw must be Bombax ceiba.  Furthermore, Eduardo who coincidentally photographed the same tree in Itu, SP says its definitely Bombax and not Butea.  Thanks for the interest and help.  Alan"

Hi Alan,Barry and Satish,
It is Bombax insigne because:
1.The flowers have long petals.
2.In Bombax ceiba the flowers are sessile, whereas here the 2 flower buds seen in the second photograph have distinct pedicels.
