Satish, thanks for posting these. I have a Cochlospermum growing at my house. I do not know what species it is, as they are quite similar across continents, and difficult to tell one from another. Mine does have reddish, flaky bark. The seed came from a person in South Africa who said the trees was not native, but that people were very fond of them, and were outraged when the government tried to cut them down in a non-native tree eradication program. It has been flowering for several weeks:

Lovely closeups and other pictures Barry.
These trees are seen on small hills around my city-Pune, Maharashtra,India.
It produces brinjal like fruits. People have made attempts to plant these in their gardens but rarely were successful. The spread is natural I suppose.It is interesting to see one in your garden.

The fruits of Yellow silk cotton are overripe and the pods are open and ready for the seed dispersal by wind........its cotton seeds.
