Hi friends,

Litchee trees with fruits as seen at Pinjore Garden near Chandigarh. Photo taken during last week. The trees resemble with mango trees in respect of spread and height.

These are exotic too aren't they? Do we know it our birds eat the fruits, nest on them etc?

Farida ji do bats play any role in the dissemination of seeds while eating the fruits.

Of course. Bats have feeding and roosting seperate places. For feeding they generally fly to the direction of forest if it is near by or the fruit trees which they know off during night. They eat and come back to roosting place. Here they pass on the seeds through feces. We can study what bats have eaten by these seeds or saplings which come under the tree. I have seen once many Bibba splings(?) Grown this way under roosting place. Ofcourse these are flying foxes.
