Please Help to ID this sp
 

Date/Time-02/10/2008- 09 AM

Location- Place, Altitude, GPS-  Assam,

Habitat- Garden/ Urban/ Wild/ Type- Wild Type

Plant Habit- Tree/ Shrub/ Climber/ Herb-  Tree

Leaves Type/ Shape/ Size- Leaf  Bauhinia like, two lobes are round at apices, 5-9x4-9cm

Inflorescence Type/ Size- as seen in the photos, pendulous,

Flowers Size/ Colour/ Calyx/ Bracts- Minute (1.5-2.5 cm), White,

Fruits Type/ Shape/ Size Seeds- Not seen

Though the leaves look like Bauhinia, the flowers do not support.

Mahadeswara ji........................................Though the leaves look like Bauhinia, the flowers do not support.

Surely its Bauhinia species, pls check with B. tomentosa or B. malabarica

... most probably Bauhinia malabarica.

No, i guess its different from the photo of Dinesh ji, the petals are pink in Mr. Dinesh's photo which is missing the posted one, but the photo posted here may be B. malabarica,, please try to check with herbarium..

It is not necessary that the flower color is always pink it can be light pink-white/cream in color depending upon where it grows.

i guess there are many species of Bauhinia in Wild, with different colour, also with pink but not B. malabarica,  so i said, require study to compare photo with..

 Interesting discussion ! A simple way to check if it is D.malabarica is to taste the leaves.[Have this on my property and this was pointed out to me by Santosh Yadav]. Please check my post at this link :
