Dear Friend,
Attaching two images of Bixa orellana. This plant is known as Arnotto or Antto dye tree.I saw is plant for the first time in Indian Institute of science campus in Bangalore. That campus is very rich in floral diversity.Next time i saw this plant at Tezpur ( Assam ).This is what Dr Venkatesh say about this plant.
" Arnotto tree has long beenunder cultivation in India and is sometimes found naturalized in this country. It is a small size tree .The flowers are showy. It's fruit capsules are reddish brown in colour and are covered with prickles. From coloured seed coats is obtained a yellow dye which is good for colouring cheese and butter.

This species is very common in Bangalore and Mysore. On the right
side of the entrance gate to Mysore Palace (near main road), a row of
these plants can be seen.
