Page numbering repeat weirdness

I'm using ID5.5 for a small book using the book with each chapter as
a
separate file. My weirdness is this:

In the ID book file, the page numbering is perfect all the way
through
the book. But when I create the PDF (any format -- quick or book),
the
last file remembers its pages by repeating only 2 page numbers. Like
this: 110-111 110-111, 110-111 until the end of the book.

I've looked for codes within the file, I've checked the Page &
Numbering
which is set as it should be to Automatic with no restarts.

I'm hoping that making a completely new file will help the situation
(haven't tried that yet), but thought I'd ask if anyone else had this
problem, or know of any answers.

Thank you!

People have mentioned difficulties like this in the past and have reported instances of dumping the file to .inx or .idml fixing it --- others if memory serves have required that the file be compleatly re-built.

I have the vague feeling of having experienced something like this
at some point, but I don't remember any eventual details or solution.
So all I have to suggest is that it might be easier for you to set
the chapter page starts manually than to rebuild the document -
which perhaps isn't too much of a sin if the pagination is definitive
and the book is ready to go.
