I need to receive faxes again, mostly gov postings, bids, that sort of thing. How are people doing that without having a dedicated fax phone line?

I've used maxemail.com for six or seven years now, usually at a cost of about $10-$15 a year (though I don't send all that many faxes).

I've used www.RingCentral.com for several years.
Works very well. I receive an email with a PDF attachment of the fax.
I can also log onto their website and retrieve PDFs of faxes.
I can fax directly from any application I'm in, such as Word or Acrobat.
And I was able to choose a toll-free number.

I have a phone/fax/answering machine on my single line. It auto detects
if a fax is coming through otherwise goes to voicemail or phone.

On Bev's recommendation I checked this out today -- and signed up for a
free week. I've sent and rec'd faxes to and from myself, and it works
great! I am going to cancel my $38/month dedicated fax landline Š thank
you for sharing this! I love that I am going to save $30 a month!

And you get a PDF of the fax, too.
Such a time-saver!

www.RingCentral.com sounds good, though I prefer paying yearly.
Anything faxing thru Skype? If so, possible to a regular phone #.
I'm trying to figure out how to put a fax on my contact info.

Kat,

Their monthly pricing is based on a yearly cost, so I assume they *prefer* that you pay annually.

Kat,

When I signed up for ring central today i saw that they offer a savings if you pay for the entire year -- you might want to go ahead and look at their web site.

Thanks,
Pauline

They have yearly plans I suspect.

When I signed up in 2010 a dedicated number was provided for my account. I've been doing just what you speak of ever since.
