I feel your pain, but I still can't replicated this. It's possible
that the Android app isn't handling timeout errors very well. Are you
syncing over WiFi or 3G?
One way you can provide me with more info is by installing a log
reading app like
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nolanlawson.logcat&hl=en
If you use that to search your logs for "inat" and email me the result
I may be able to work on this further. You can email me at
ku...@inaturalist.org. You can also use he...@inaturalist.org. You may
need to start the logging app and then try to sync new data to get
useful info, not sure if it reads existing logs or just records data
from running apps.
