I think, that new configuration variable called "StickyGridSelection" (yes/no) will come in handy.

This variable will change how record selection in grids will work:
  • sticky (from 5.0.0 version) - when one record is clicked and you click on another record, then both records are selected (no Ctrl/Shift is used)
  • non-sticky (before 5.0.0 version) - when one record is clicked and you click on another record, then only second record becomes selected (to select many records at once Ctrl/Shift should be used along with clicking)

I also think, that it's good, since Dbl-Clicking on any record will result in 1 record being edited instead of all selected, as for now.

Hi guys,

Great! Yes, these sound like very useful enhancements to the current Grids.

Alex, would you please create a task for this and schedule for the Future, but I would probably put this for 5.1.3 if we have time and patch by that time so grids in 5.1.x. are better to work with while 5.2.x might get a new Grids anyway.

Cheers!

There is an error in the task you've created.

Dbl-click behaviour and stick selection are not 2 different things, but 1.

When in non-sticky mode, then dbl-click will unselected all but current record and edit it.

When in sticky mode, then dbl-click will edit all selected records.

Also there is no mention about 2 changes in this discussion only one.

Please don't change task description as you see fit without getting approval from others via associated discussion.

Hi Alex,

Well, actually, I have summarized and NOT changed anything...

Please make changes in the task as you feel as you've been original poster of this change.
