Content mode buttons lost after editing top category

Go to "Home" category. Press "Tools -> Edit Current Section" and then "Save" in popup. After all that "CATEGORY.MODIFY" permission is lost for "admin" group resulting content mode buttons disappearing. Found on 5.0.2

my tests on 503:
- admin users cannot modify the home category
- content mode buttons appears only if you activate permission
modification for home category

did you tried to activte these permissions?

sorry I misunderstoud the question, and I was replying about content
mode button loss.

I have the same pb, as follow, on, 503:
- it does the problem only in root folder
- it happens for all groups
- the probem is that you can change option only once, as Alex described

Here is more details for Dmitry:

We have such structure "Home OLD (ID = 0, not in db) -> Home (ID = 1, in db) -> Products (ID = 2, in db)".
When you use "Tools -> Edit Current Section" in "Home", then category with ID = 1 is edited and you see only Permissions tab. There you see all red circles (means all is denied) for all groups. Actually CATEGORY.* permissions are allowed for category with ID = 0, which is not in db. When you hit "Save", then what you see (all denied) becomes reality and all really becomes denied.

Later or, when you allow something directly in "Home (ID = 1)" category, then it will work like a charm.
