Here are some details. When cropped size is larger, then given image, then image is not enlarger (to preserve it's quality) and larger canvas image is created to place source image on it. Source image was containing alpha-channel information, but created canvas wasn't. When merged together alpha-channel information was totally lost and what was transparent in source image became black in target cropped image.

Doesn't seem to interest anybody, but this is serious problem especially, when you work with transparent PNG images.

I agree, I work a lot with PNG now, as this is really better for transparency.

The only detail is that I use PNG for design, and then I suppose that
cropping tool is used only for content images, but anyway it'd be
better to support all images formats :-)

That task: http://tracker.in-portal.org/view.php?id=601 you've created for this discussion has scheduled to 5.0.2 release. That's not right and it should be scheduled to 5.0.4 release instead.

I'll see how I could trick mantis to forbid setting released versions as target task versions.
