Hello,

tested on lamp and wamp, new install.

I check "choose user group on front" + immediate registering and I create a new group.
Choose this group on front when registering; user is created but you are not logged in.
When you register and choose "member" group (default installed group), it works and you are logged in on "register_complete" page.

Tested with "activation email" option do the same.

This problem disrupt the registration process when you need users to do something after registering.

Phil.

You must assign proper "front-end login" permission to newly created group for your user (who have chosen that group on registration form) be able to login.

I forgot to say that I added this permission before doing my tests.

Can I have access to test this on a demo on your side? I tested in many different installations, I can't believe I'm the only one to have the problem. Have you noted that it happens only when choosing a group other than default "member" one?
I've tried again on my local install, it does the same. This is a new install, new DB, no items at all.

I can't replicate that, so I don't know what to think.

Thanks to Dmitry's help, I've understoud Alex's first reply about
"permission login on front", which was related to the option available
after editing the group, clicking on "permissions tab" + clicking on
first "change" link in the list + checking the related box in the new
pop-up window.

I'd suggest to move this option on general tab, along with "allow to
select group on front", as it seems more common to have login
permission for new groups than not having it.

Seems to be a good idea. Based on Phil's post I propose to:

  • move all advanced permissions (shown after you click on "Change" link near the node) of "Top Node" on Permissions tab to General tab, like in separate sub-section.
