                                                        Rotary Club of Cochin Metropolis and RI District 3201 takes pride in organizing a film festival that showcases social causes.Inspired by the success of the earlier editions of SCRIPT festivals and encouraging participation from film makers, enthusiastsand sponsors we now present to you SCRIPT 2013.                                                            

                Film Festival                          

Festival divided into six categories.
Category 1: Film makers
Category 2: International films
Category 3: Students - should produce certificate from college
Category 4: Mini | Ad films with social message - up to two min duration
Category 5 : Documentaries

No entry fee for participation in SCRIPT 2013                          

No fee is required to participate in script 2013. In case of inadequate number of entries in any particular category the organizersreserve right to cancel that category of competition with out notice. The films received may however be showcased, ifconsidered good, by the preliminary jury.                                                              

Rules
Last date for entries - 15th November 2012                              

The participating films should be of a maximum duration of 30 minutes. Mini | Ad films should not exceed 02 minutes.All films are expected to have a "social" message. Films with no relevance to the theme of the film festival will not be consideredfor screening.
Films can be either color or black and white. No fee is required to participate in SCRIPT. Contest language is English, and forfilms in their original language the subtitles must be in English. Refer website for detailed rules and regulations.All the participating films will be reviewed by the preliminary jury. The films selected in various categories will be announced onthe website by 25 Dec 2012. These films will compete in SCRIPT 2013 and the grand jury will review these films. Filmscompeting will be displayed to the audience on the 08th and 09th of February 2013.Golden Halo awards with prize money and other awards to be won in each category. There may be special mentions by the Jury. For further details go to  www.scriptfilmfest.in.

Name of the Course :     Basic Videography

Scope of the Course :
Visual Communication is said to be most effective and powerful communication. Creating meaningful visuals is both an 'Art' & Craft. Creation ofvisuals for Film & Television Programmes is a continous and evolving process. New techniques used in camera /lenses/mounting devices has changed the visuals perspective and its impact in fiction/non-fiction production. Improving upon one's visual literacy for a better visual story telling is the essential need of audio visual media.
The single and multi-camera production on location and in studio have become very popular in broadcasting. Persons having both technical & creative skills of camera are required in the industry. The course aims to give partcipants an opportunity to use basic asethetics & skills to create visuals that can be used for effective communication. The participants will have the opportunity to explore single camera operation and develop the organisational skills required for planning and execution of a single camera production. Recording formats , basic lighting demonstration , TV news set designing, basics of studio multicamera demonstration will also be part of the course.
Objective of the Course :

To familiarize the participants with the basics of broadcast quality video cameras, their operations and applications in various practical situations.

To be able to use the aesthetics of single camera operation in terms of visual composition , camera movement and develop basic technical skills.

To understand the basics of Multicam TV Studio Operations from the Point of View of Cameras.

Course Dates : 28th January, 2013 to 09th February, 2013

Minimum Eligibility : 12th (H.S.C.)

Scope of the Course :
Increasing number of Television Channels and increase in audio-visual literacy amongst the audience has led to the demand of quality TV programmes of various genres every day. The professionals, production houses and TV channels are meeting this challenge by providing ‘live’ or recorded programmes with single or multicamera techniques. The multicamera production has several advantages as it saves time, money and resources if planned properly. It has developed its own technique, art & aesthetics of production which creates intimacy and immediacy & makes the programme interesting and exciting. The multicam studio production also provides better control over production where desired result can be achieved in a given time. Thats why a range of programmes like serials, sitcoms, reality shows, audience particapatory programmes, educational television, interviews, discussions, news, sports and important évents can be produced ‘live’ or ‘recorded’ by multicam TV studio or multicam outside broadcast vans. Due to these reasons, the professionals familiar with the techniques of multicam Studio Production find themselves comfortable in the challenging & competitive environment of the industry.
This course aims to familiarise the participants with the role and responsibilities of the team members, develop team spirit, know the techniques of production & operations of studio equipments. The course will also help to develop an ability for quick decisions and fast reflexes and management of time, budget & resources for these production. The input of the course will be provided through lectures, demonstrations and practicals with hands-on module.
The course will benefit the person who have required aptitude and interest to learn the techniques of multicam studio production for enhancing their understanding and capability of the specilaized production. This course will also be useful to the media teachers who want to teach studio production and production staff of Doordarshan, EMMRCs, SIETs and other organizations having multicam set up for fine tuning their skills in multicam production.

Objective of the Course :

To familiarize the participants with the multi-cam studio chain

To understand the role & responsibilities of each of the crew members

To learn the procedure of multi-cam studio production

To make the students able to write simple script, direct the programme, handle the equipments in multi-cam environment for time management & develop team spirit

Scope of the Course :

Sound and Visual are the two sides of the same coin. Both are important for audio-visual communication. “Sound” is considered extremely useful for enhancing the visual impact of a Film/TV programme. Creative use of sound in the form of dialogues, music and atmospheric sound has been used effectively for long in cinematic presentation of a story. Equipment including recorders, amplifiers, mixers, equalizers, compressors and other signal processing units can improve or alter sound quality suitably for story telling. The professionals having these skills are in demand. This course has been designed to understand the basic techniques of digital recording of “live” sound and the change of sound perspective to complement the visual for a desired result to create a powerful impact on the audience.

This course will benefit the persons who want to learn the techniques of Sound Recording and Post Production. This course will also be useful to the working professionals in the industry, TV Channels, Production houses, EMMRC's, SIET's & media teachers and persons of set-up having TV / Video sound recording facilities.
