Dear Dream Advocates,
Ponganse las pilas, get ready!
Tomorrow (Thursday, February 8) the Chair of the Higher Education Committee, Senator Sandy Pappas (D-St. Paul), along with Senator Claire Robling (R-Jordan), Senate Majority Leader Larry Pogemiller (D-Minneapolis), Senator Thomas Neuville (R-Northfield), and Senate Finance Chair Richard Cohen (D-St. Paul) will introduce the Mn Dream Act to the Minnesota Senate.
Although the Mn Dream Act has always been alive in our hearts, tomorrow, the Dream will be alive again at the legislature.
What does this mean for students, community members, families, immigrants, allies, and access to higher ed. advocates?
It means we should use the Mn Dream Act as a vehicle to continue to push for our community's right to have proper access to higher education. People should raise awareness about this issue and its importance by organizing educational events, rallies, workshops, public art, etc. You can join the Dream Coalition, a group of organizations and individuals who are planning events and activities to raise the visibility of the Mn Dream Act by coming to our next meeting on Saturday February 10 at 12:30 pm at our offices. You can also participate in Student Day at the Capitol on Tuesday February 27th from 8:00-3:00pm where we expect 800 student advocates and allies working to gain access to higher education for all. There are plenty of ways to get involved, if you want more information or want to participate in any of these events please come to the coalition meeting or call us at
651-287-0660 (or
1-877-265-8817).
Si se puede!
