Hi,
I was wondering if it is possible to extract the click-through URL from the SDK? We have a video player that has a CTA button above the player and we have been asked to make that use the same URL as what is provided in the VAST tag.

I found this old thread https://groups.google.com/g/ima-sdk/c/coNdSS_BCbg/m/nn6HeX7aAQAJ where it states the google.ima.Ad.getClickThroughUrl() is no longer being exposed but has there been any change to this?

I believe the clickthrough url is intentionally not being exposed and the getClickThroughUrl() method is no longer supported as also mentioned on the thread you have referenced. However, I can raise this as a feature request to our wider team to seek if this still would be possible to be available. But before that, kindly provide your use case in business terms of how will this impact you or help you as this will be needed in raising the concern.

Hi Michael,

If you could raise a feature request that would be great.

In terms of the business case, we require this feature for our clients. We have a video player which has a CTA button above the video as this leads to a better click-through rate. Currently, in order to use the clients' VAST tag we have to make a request to the VAST tag, extract the click URL and apply that to the CTA button. AS a lot of clients have dynamic VAST tags that create a unique ID for the impression, technically we are having to use two different impression IDs for one video impression. Therefore, if a user clicks on the CTA the client is unable to match the click impression with the video impression which will distort their data, as they are unable to match the impressions together.

In our case, this can lead to a loss in revenue as we could not be accredited with the click-throughs due to clicks not matching the impression IDs that are served to us in the videos.
