Hi,

Following David's very good suggestion - We'd like to start recording
(audio) the talks. I'm aware of Audacity which if you download to
your laptop can work as a recorder (also great for editing). Its nice
and easy to use. Any other suggestions?

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Thanks,

Yael

I heard that Audacity is good enough.

But I think it's more important to use good quality sound recorder.

A few people I know use this one: http://kley-zemer.co.il/product.asp?product=7783

I can recommend it.

It's for sure better than those 200-NIS no name recorders.

David.

Yes I have one. Only problem with it is that it records everything including someone scratching their head somewhere in the room etc. I think its designed for a recording room.

The H2 mic is a condenser so it isn't designed for recording a speaker where there's audience, we've also tried it, it picks up every little noise in the room.

Hi Yael,
This is what we use for voice recording. works great other than when
its outdated 2 9V batteries are low.

We connect it to our camera but it can probably be connected to a
laptop and used with audacity to manipulate the recording afterwards.
If you want to try it out anytime you're around the Outbrain offices
feel free.

I will.
I've sent you a mail so we can take this 'outside' :-)
Will update here if it does work, in case someone is interested.

Works perfectly. We tried it with Apple's GarageBand but it should
work just as well with Audacity.
There are two units - one that connects to your camcorder/laptop and a
wireless microphone that you connect to the speaker's shirt. Given all
that, you hear the speaker very very well and any background noises
from the audience are of lesser significance, depending on how close
they occured to the speaker.
You can hear questions from the audience, again based on their
distance from the speaker.
I think we bought it for $50 about a year ago but now it's sold for
$150, no idea why.

Thanks Gabi :-) would you be able to send me the file or upload it near Dvirsky's Talk page?
Anyone know of a cheaper but reliable option?
