the headphone every couple of months or so. Then I wrote a
little .NET
app that would sync, and download my podcasts. Fun times... Maybe
I'll
get it out of the drawer just to see if it's still working OK.

I still have mine, but I seldom use it. I do use it as a flash drive
some, but that isn't really worth it. It takes to long for it to
figure out what is on my SD card. 2 GB cards are slow.

I have mine, it works, but I rarely use it. When I do use it, I tend
to listen to books rather than music because it has the "resume within
the track" feature that my usual mp3 player does not.

I just got mine out of a drawer a few days ago, and after some
fiddling with it, am using it on my scooter with speakers. Can't do
that with a harddrive device like my Zen of course, due to the bumps
in the road, so it's really cool to have :) Love that the battery is
swappable!

Yes I'm the owner of the list and I don't use it anymore either. I have an
iPhone and (for the most part) am very happy with it. The iPhone is a
fantastic device. It is not as good a pure music or audio book player as my
defunct Rio Karma (which the iLo was modeled after) but it gives you a whole
lot more.
The bane of all portable music players is the headphone jack. Apple tried to
address the problem by recessing the jack in the first iPhone, was roundly
criticized by using a non-standard jack and has now gone back to a standard
jack. Now Apple is getting criticized because cracks are appearing near the
plastic casing near the jack.
What is surprising is that few alternatives seem to come forth even though
this is such a common problem. Some manufacturers have tried to solve this
by introducing wireless bluetooth headsets but bluetooth has audio fidelity
issues. A lossless wireless technology was introduced a couple of years ago
but no one except RCA even tried it. I think that a potential solution might
be some sort of induction headphone technology.
I'm only guessing that some electronic manufactures benefit from the
planned obsolesce of their products and others just don't want to admit that
they have a problem.

I've had two ILOs, the first 256mb silver egg shaped one and the 512mb orange squarish shaped one that came out a year later. I think the first one was the best, I gave it to my 10 year old son, he uses it and it still works. The second one broke only six months later, due to being dropped if I remember right.
Currently, I use a Sansa e200 which is definitely more durable that the ILO and more stable. It also has video and pictures, HOWEVER, the sound quality of the ILO is far better.

I've pretty much moved on. I mostly use an Insignia Pilot now.
Sometimes I'll dig the ilo out and listen to it because I love the
sound quality. It's amazing, the sound quality of this thing seems to
rival that of players twice its price. In fact, I'd still be using it
if they didn't cripple it with such poor firmware.
