Type the following code to play
$ for i in E A7 E2 B7 A E3 G A B C7 D;do play -n synth 1 pluck $i repeat 2;done
The command "play" is a part of the package "sox". More info see the
manual page for 'sox' or http://www.manpagez.com/man/1/sox/

i get the following error 11 times:
play synth: no type given.

just web-searched to discover i need sox versions 14.3.0 and above,
and i have 14.2.0 as pluck is part of the later version.
