I wanted a break from the official stuff
Many of us in IBN want ye old-style IBN rides.
Where a bunch of friends rode a little more leisurely without time
stations, no race, and had food in small places without time bothering
us.
Exploring places.
Basically having fun.
I'll probably join the small 50k hesarghatta on sunday then. Will wash
my bike today :)

Seven of us: Hari, Karthik, Alex, Naresh, Ashutosh, Shankar and me
rode out to Hesaraghatta this Sunday morning.
Even though it's a road I've been on countless times, this time it was
different. Fog had crept up from the lake and its adjoining areas so
that the Hesaraghatta state highway was fog covered. It was fun to see
cyclists disappear in front of you into the fog. Visibility was about
50--100 meters. Clearly, the experience on a road changes based on
seasons, time of day, etc. Makes for a lot more variety.
By the time we reached the lake, it was completely covered in fog. We
spent a little time there and moved on to the Meadow, which was also
fog covered. If it is difficult to navigate in darkness, it is also so
in the fog! We encountered many mud trails, and ended up following the
wrong one! Finally we found the clump of trees, ghostly in the mist,
and still we could not see the horizon. It was an end of the world
kind of feeling in that meadow (geographical, not chronological).
We returned by 11.15 via IIHR.

I found this trip to be almost like an eventful journey through
fairytale-land. The fog and almost no visibility added to the thrill.
I've been in this road once before, and it was almost impossible back
then! I still vividly remember the way I dragged my bike for miles
when I went for the first time, sometime in October first week, this
year. I really thank Sree, Alex, Ashutosh, Karthikeyan, Shanker and
Naresh for making the day very eventful!
The pump-house at Hessarghatta, covered in thick fog, looked like one
of usual paintings I used to make, way back in my school days. The
lake was completely invisible, and all that one can see is the thick
white fog everywhere. It was my first time at the grasslands, and it
really looked as if we'd fall off the edge of earth if we went a
little further!
The funniest moments of the ride with Alex and his BSA Photon (and
it's ubiquitous horn). This ride has been much more eventful than
anything I've ever been on, probably because this is the first time I
ever saw a flat in the group. Yesterday I was munching all day, the
grapes that we 'picked up' from vineyards on the way! With this trip,
ends the first month of my Fomas Road King 21 shift, after covering
approx 350 Km.

I dont agree due to the following reasons:
The purpose of sharing a zip file is that you have the ability to
download high quality photos with all the exif data etc at once. that's
why i am not using picasa. every picture: right click, save as. very
stupid, if there are more than 10 pics. i dont have time for that, so i
do not even check the pics anymore, if someone sends a picasa link.
shalbum is the same like picasa, but locally installed. it looks nice,
but nobody is able to download high quality pics in one single shot. so
it does not help, if i still have to provide zip files for the download.
Alex
True.
> it does not help, if i still have to provide zip files for the download.
True, but you can provide the ZIP file too. I only look at images,
and never download high-quality versions of them, so for me, it's much
simpler to just browse through images online.
