The Healthcare Information Technology Standards Panel (HITSP) serves as a cooperative partnership between the public and private sectors for the purpose of achieving a widely accepted and useful set of standards specifically to enable and support widespread interoperability among healthcare software applications, at the local, regional and national health information network levels for the United States. As part of this interoperability initiative, in late October HITSP technical committees will complete their work on the three Interoperability Specifications listed below:

·        Clinical Research Interoperability Specification (HITSP/IS158),

·        Newborn Screening Interoperability Specification (HITSP/IS92), and

·        Quality Interoperability Specification (HITSP/IS06)

Beginning November 6th these documents will enter into the Inspection Testing phase of the HITSP Harmonization Process.

We are seeking inspection testers for these specifications and are hoping IHE members will participate.  We request your assistance in recruiting interested members.

If someone from IHE would like to sign up as an inspection tester they should contact Gene Ginther at (703) 898-4592 or by email: ggin...@jbsinternational.com. We intend to host an orientation session with candidate testers on November 9th.  Inspection testing is currently scheduled for November 6th through December 4th. Typically it takes a tester about 12 hours to review an interoperability specification and associated constructs and complete the testing workbook.

Inspection Testers will be sent a .zip file of the Interoperability Specification and supporting constructs as well as the Inspection Testing Workbook. The package of constructs will also be posted on the HITSP web site (www.hitsp.org) upon release. In addition to the orientation session the testers will have an opportunity to attend teleconferences during which construct authors will provide a high-level overview of the constructs and answer tester questions.  Also, during the inspection testing period “checkpoint” teleconferences are planned to provide testers an opportunity to again interact with the technical committee to ask additional questions.

We look forward to your assistance in recruiting testers for this important effort.

Best Regards,

Lee Jones
