Long time subscriber, first time contributor.
Does anyone know if we have a local Childs Play Charity event here (Greater Salt Lake Area)? An actual physical event, not just an online only tournament. If not, I would love to help put one together.

Thanks,
Rob

Also a long time subscriber and infrequent contributor.

I would love to see a Child's Play Charity event here in the Greater Salt Lake Area.

No, we've had people participating online but no physical event as far as I know. Let me know what I can help with if you decide to organize one!

Thanks Vazor. Right now I'm just getting some feelers and brainstorming. I'm going to reach out some more and see what I can put together. You have dealt with the local studios for past events, do you think any of they would be willing to help sponsor or provide space, games or equipment? In exchange for signage and branding on the registration site? I have a few connections with event planners, registration companies and printers that I think I could pull those resources together and get the logistics done pretty easily and cheap.

Thanks,
Rob

Unfortunately there is not a lot of value for them in that exchange (correct me if I'm wrong here, industry folks), and in the past it has been difficult (but not impossible) to get a deal like that, but who knows, this is slightly different than a typical IGDA meeting, so they might be more amenable to your approaches. I can send your request to the local Advisory Board email list when you have it finalized and see what the response is like.

I run Utah Geek Events a 501c(3) not for profit and could help put this together as well.  We have printers for registration already, registration sites and all sorts of good things to help out.  We can also take money as a 501c(3) so you don't have to do the tax portion of it.  Let me know if you want any help putting it on.  We are all just volunteers so we love to help out with events.

If nothing else we would love to get it out to our membership about the event.

After Tuesdays IGDA meeting and looking over the Child's Play website, I think with what the University of Utah has done in the past (the EAE program and games for cancer patients) we should have a discussion about the local schools and possibly doing a Child's Play event.

I know we have quite a few people in this group that are connected to schools in the area, and studios. What are everyone's thoughts on this?

So I'm currently the EAE grad student at the  U working with the PE game.  If we can come up with some sort of concrete idea of what we're thinking of doing, I'd love to help out.

With Neumont's new campus on 143 S. Main Street we might have a great venue for this. Contact me at Stacy....@neumont.edu
