Rules- change processing by file size or type?

I am loving this software, but I have a question. I use this in
conjuntion with my Apple TV. I use the flatten option for SD tv shows
without issue.

I would like to use this with HD shows and movies, but some of the
files are not compatible with ATV, due to high profile encoding, etc.
As such, even if iTunes will recognize them, they will not be playable
on the ATV.

Is this software smart enough to know that those types of files need
to be encoded, and not simply wrapped in .mov? If not, can this
distinction be made in rules? Ie, files of extension type, or files
over a size limit are encoded?

I also use Hazel for rule processing, so I could have it do the heavy
lifting for rules, but how can I tell iFlicks, in Applescript, to use
a processing method? The scripts I have seen just tell iFlicks to
process the file, and it does so based on the settings in preferences.

I'll add a few more rules soon, so that this should be possible.

Have a look at the scripts in Library/iTunes/Scripts for a few
examples. Also you can open the AppleScript Editor and select File ->
Open Dictionary.. from the menu. Now select iFlicks and click Choose.
Now a window will show up, which displays all parameters for iFlicks
AppleScript support.

Perhaps this is more work that I realize, but a killer feature would
be to integrate rules based on various popular devices- somewhat
similar to handbrake. For example, if I have an iPhone and an Apple
TV, i would tick those two boxes. The software would then know, based
on the type of file being added, whether a reference file or MOV or
conversion or whatever was needed and would create the compatible
version for each selected device. It could then be automatically
added to iTunes under the SD/HD tag.

Even if it could not handle multiple devices, it would be cool to have
a set of built-in rules for common devices. For example, if the file
has a bit rate under X and dimensions under Y Z, then create/flatten
to MOV, else convert to ATV format.

I'll check which parts of this can be implemented easily in the current version.
Most of this probably needs some more work under the hood, so it will have to wait a bit.
