1571 and .D71 writing

Hi folks,

This is kind of old news but I’ve forgotten to tell about it so here goes.

Some time ago I posted about a bug in .D71 writer plugin; writing the .D71 simply freezes after the first 35 tracks.

 

I discovered that this happens, if a disk is not preformatted to 1571-doubleside format before executing the .D71 writer plugin.

In other words, the .D71 writer works, I just need to do the following first in case the disk is not preformatted:

@#8        (set drive 8 active)

@U0>M1         (set 1571 to doubleside mode)

@N0:FIG,11        (format disk)

 

Now the .D71 writing will work.

 

Anyway, since a lot of 1571 owners probably have not realized this, I’d like to propose a Format Y/N –option for the .D71 writer plugin which basically does what I did on the dos wedge up there J
