Ordered only last week, really fast !
Can't wait to get home and hook it up to my beloved C-64.
Is there anything i should be careful with ?
any tips for a first-time user ?

Thanks in advance !

Congratulations Rob :-)

AFAIK new cards are installed with the new 0.9x IDEDOS, so should be OK
for start and then you can update later. Previously the most important
caution was to upgrade from 0.84 to 0.9x before starting to get familiar
with it. So: check your version.

If you want to have the convenience of having tons of stuff on the
device, I advertise my site here: http://c64.rulez.org/xlfiles/ which
hosts complete FTP archives converted to IDE64 use (e.g. 16 char file
names, all uncompressed from zip, rar, tar.gz, zipcode whatever those
FTP sites use...).

Thanks for the reply, Lion !
I will certainly have a look at the files when i'm home.

Already have numerous files for the C-64 in the .d64 format on my PC, and
have a 1541-II hooked up via the Star Commander.   I understand that i
can link the IDE64 directly over USB to my PC too, that's a great feature !

Already have a 80 gig disk reserved for C-64 content exclusively !

Regards from a sunny Belgium,
Rob

You should head over to news.ide64.org and download "Plugins pack 2012". It will make your life so much better together with the IDE64.

The plugins are perfectly configured from start in that package, and gives you plugins for "mounting" a disk images like d64, unzip files, look at graphics and read text files directly from the built in manager.

I tried yesterday with a CD-Rom hooked to it, and it worked perfectly.
Haven't tried with the harddisk yet.  It's FAT32 formatted, i wonder if
i can hook it up just like that.   Will test later, but sofar i'm really
happy with the 'new toy'...  :)
