Bagaimana menjalankan Option N.V. Qualcomm MSM6275 dgn Network Manager di Karmic

Dear suhu suhu ubuntu

Saat ini saya sedang berusaha membantu teman saya untuk menggunakan modem pcmcia type Option N.V. Qualcomm MSM6275. Tadi setiap saya menancapkan di laptop network manager tidak bisa mengenali, meskipun dari pengecekan lspci dan dmesg sudah dikenali. Kemudian saya googling dan mendapat saran di https://edge.launchpad.net/~network-manager/+archive/trunk untuk meng upgrade ; network manager.

Setelah proses upgrade selesai, maka network manager berhasil mengenali, tetapi belum bisa terkoneksi ke jaringan 3g/gprs; saya mencoba dengan im2 dan telkomsel flash card saya.

Mohon pencerahannya agar teman saya terbantu menggunakan Karmic dan option modem untuk kebutuhan berinternet sehari hari. Terima kasih atas pencerahannya.

Kalo lspci sudah berhasil deteksi modemnya, tinggal lihat vendor id dan
product id

#modprobe usbserial vendor=xxxxxx product=xxxxxx

lalu gunakan wvdial. Bila berhasil nanti bila ada waktu tinggal
utak-atik network manager, yang penting kan sudah konek 3g-nya :)

Coba ketik 'lsusb -v' dulu untuk melihat idVendor dan id Product

contoh :

Setelah itu idVendor dan idProduct disisipkan dalam perintah
modprobe,spt ini:

sudo modprobe usbserial vendor=0x05c6 product=0x9004

setelah itu konfigurasikan wvdial

sudo wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf
setelah device modemnya sudah terdeteksi, tinggal edit file
/etc/wvdial.conf, sesuaikan dengan parameter provider yg dipakai.

Biar lebih gampang, tinggal buatkan scriptnya biar prosesnya tinggal
satu klik saja ;)

Sebenarnya ada cara lain yaitu dengan install dan edit file
usb_modeswitch, tapi coba dulu cara primitif tersebut.

kalo saya juga pakai modem pcmcia sierra AirCard 881, utk koneksi internet tdk pakai wvdial tapi menggunakan software umtsmon, jadi tidak perlu setting wvdial nya.
untuk menjalankannya tinggal download file umtsmon, lalu diextrac di folder lalu jalankan dengan perintah sudo ./umtsmon

kalo saya juga pakai modem pcmcia sierra AirCard 881, utk koneksi internet tdk pakai wvdial tapi menggunakan software umtsmon, jadi tidak perlu setting wvdial nya.
untuk menjalankannya tinggal download file umtsmon, lalu diextrac di folder lalu jalankan dengan perintah sudo ./umtsmon

Selain umtsmon, alternative lain, dapat menggunakan Wader. Silakan merujuk di mari ya [0] dan untuk
melihat screenshot, bisa merujuk ke sini [1], dan semoga modem-nya terdeteksi dengan baik. Tapi,
jikalau tidak terdeteksi, bisa melakukan 'sedikit' kerja keras untuk melakukannya. Ada penjelasannya
pula di sini [2].

Technical detail untuk instalasi yang ada di [0] udah dilaksakan belum?
Coba jalankan perintah ini setelah melakukan update:
$ sudo apt-get install wader-gtk

idproduct sebanyak 4 digit
Bila sdh keluar infonya, tinggal diload via modprobe dan konfigurasi wvdial

Jangan coba2 metode yg lain dulu (spt umtsmon, wader) :) back to zero
lagi deh, kecuali kalo punya banyak waktu luang, karena ini
(penggunaan lsusb/lspci) mrp metode dasar, dan ini bisa digunakan
untuk mengenali dan mengaktifkan perangkat/device baru yang lain.

oh iya mas untuk menjalankan umtsmon ada file dependesnsi nya harus di install yaitu file libqt3-mt, setelah itu terinstall baru umtsmon bisa dibuka. coba masuk ke folder umtsmon kemudian ketik perintah sudo ./umtsmon kalo belum bisa terbuka nanti akan terlihat file2 dependensi yang harus terinstall.

Mas Didin, Terimakasih atas kesediaannya mengikuti thread mail ini. Meski saya belum berhasil menggunakan modem ini dan menggunakannya utk internet -an, tapi saya serasa mendapat semangat lebih untuk terus belajar linux.

Saya telah mencoba me load dengan modprobe sesuai saran anda. Tidak ada pesan kesalahan. Namun wvdial tetap belum mengenali modem ini.

Apakah ini merupakan bug di Koala ...

Soalnya modem sudah terdeteksi tinggal ikuti petunjuk setelah modprobe
di situs diatas. Jenis modemnya sama persis.
Mudah..dan kurasa bisa dipakai di Karmic Koala, kan juga sama-sama ubuntu :)

Sudah coba ganti dengan /dev/noz1, /dev/noz2, /dev/noz3 pada file
/etc/wvdial.conf

coba cek di /dev/

ls /dev/ | grep noz

biasanya keluarannya seperti ini :

noz0
noz1
noz2
noz3

tinggal rubah baris pada file /etc/wvdial.conf seperti ini :
Modem = /dev/noz0 -> Modem = /dev/noz1 dst

Kemudian isi password dan usernamenya sesuai provider ybs.

Tinggal sedikit lagi konek tuh, ayo semangat.

Setelah bisa konek, coba main-main dengan umtsmon, daripada pakai
networkmanager :)

Hehe Mas Didin; saya telah mencoba mengganti modem dari noz0 - noz3 karena hasil ls /dev | grep nov hasilnya itu. Pesan not responding hanya terjadi pada noz1, selebihnya tidak. Username dan password memang saya kosongi karena di telkomsel flash memang kosong. Dan hasilnya seperti yang saya paste kan di atas.

Apa kalau menggunakan wvdial itu, networkmanagernya di matikan dulu. Kemarin saya mencoba dengan Modem Sony Ericsonn yang jalan dgn Network Manager, tapi kok dengan wvdial malah tidak.

Ini mungkin karena sinyal telkomsel di daerah saya tinggal serig putus putus dan sangat lemah. Atau mungkin masalah lain.

Besuk lagi di kantor biar saya coba.

Mengenai UMTS mon saya ada sedikit masalah di Karmic, dulu di janti lancar lancar saja sih ... Masalah itu adalah :

Wah sepertinya sudah bisa tuh,
untuk library libqt-mt.so.3, coba search pakai synaptic package manager.
Nanti akan tampil paket yang berisi file tersebut, tinggal install :)
