Dear All,

We have a question on mHealth and its application for improving malaria in pregnancy (MIP) interventions.

Effective malaria in pregnancy approaches focus on promoting (1) Intermittent preventive treatment of malaria in pregnancy (IPTp), (2) Insecticide treated bednet (ITN) use during pregnancy and (3) Effective case management of malaria during pregnancy.

We are wondering whether there have been any efforts to improve uptake of MIP interventions using mHealth methods, targeting providers or the beneficiaries of the services, or anyone else. We are interested in knowing what MIP interventions have been targeted for improvements and any outcomes that have been measured – positive or negative – related to such efforts.

Specifically, we are looking for
1) Any gray or published literature on mHealth MIP interventions. The literature could be descriptive/qualitative (like a report or a case study or blog post) or evaluative (showing progress on health behavior or service delivery outcomes and/or public health impact like reduced transmission).

2) Any information on mHealth applications for MIP (even if there is no written documentation). Contacts or websites to get more info on these applications would be helpful and much appreciated.

Best,
Carolyn

Carolyn, you may want to cross-post this at the mHealth WG listserv.

Good questions - where did they come from?
