FLASH MOB OF APPRECIATIVE, QUIET PEOPLE WHO OPPOSE TORTURE!

WHEN: Tuesday, April 24, 2012. Meet at 6:10pm to prepare for his approach at 6:30pm. Event starts at 7:00 pm. 

WHERE: International House, Assembly Hall, 1414 East 59th Street, Chicago, IL

WHAT: Join the moms in a silent thank-you vigil to welcome the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Torture (Juan E. Mendez) to the University of Chicago. We will hold signs and white flowers to show gratitude for his recognition of the harm of solitary confinement.  

WHY: Mendez has called for a global ban on the use of solitary confinement for over 15 days and directed attention to the harm of supermax prisons. We also hope to bring attention to the fact that Tamms supermax is condemned by international human rights monitors.

DETAILS: We will provide signs that say THANK YOU along with our signs that say I AM A MOM, MY BROTHER IS A HUMAN BEING and TAMMS DESTROYS LIVES. Wear white if you can. (If not, no problem.)
