Hello,

is it possible to use ibm_db with odbc to connect to an iSeriesDB2.
The odbc-connection works fine so far.

Is it possilbe to connect to the ISeries DB2 with this software
configuration.
If not what are the alternatives for connecting ibm_db with an
iSeriesDB2?

Please ask if something is unclear?

Thanks in advance Christian

Hi Christian,

Yes, you can connect to DB2 on iseries system using ibm_db if you have
DB2 connect product installed on your client machine. For more
information on DB2 connect product please refer to
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/db2luw/v9r5/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.db2.luw.qb.dbconn.doc/doc/c0004770.html

Let us know if you require more information.

P.S: - Let me also let you know that ibm_db with DB2 on i5 is not yet
officially supported. We are in the process of announcing the support
officially soon. You can go ahead and start using ibm_db against
iseries and also let us know if you face any problems as it would help
us a lot to provide a robust support for DB2 on iseries machines.

Thanks

Praveen

Hi Christian,

The DB2 Connect product is not free. For a detailed information on DB2
connect product offerings and to purchase it please go through the
following link http://www-01.ibm.com/software/data/db2/db2connect/

Let us know if you require some more information.

P.S: - First might be you would require to contact your i5 sysadmins,
for if they have some licenses available already.

Thanks

Praveen
