ITIM Custom Adapter Recon Problem

We have created an adapter which can add, delete and list. We have
found that our recon works and account are returned ok.
We then assign the accounts owners, so far so good !! Now the
problem, if we run another recon we loss all our owners and the
accounts all become orphans again.
We are sure we must be overlooking something, any thoughts on what
might cause this behaviour. We are using ITIM 5.1 with the latest ADT
for ITDI v7.

We have fixed this, though we were deleting the service and the
adapter within ITIM it was still leaving LDAP entries in the
V3.modifiedschema files.
Doing a complete clean up and new adapter import fixed our problems.
The schema had some old stuff we removed from the adapter and this was
causing all
our issues.
