Hello All,

I seem to have lost a step in the procedure to add new parameters to an IADS configuration.  Here are the steps I take, hoping someone will point out my error:

1.       Configure the Wyle (or any data source) with the new parameters and start IOM, etc.

2.       Start the IADS console.

3.       Selects Tools -> Parameter Attributes Dialog

4.       Browse to the BTD file and open it.

5.       Select the new parameters

6.       Right click and select from one of:  Create PRN, Create Config Config File, Create Excel PDL Table.  Here is beginning of my problem. I have tried all three.  Save the file.

7.       Exit the console and all of IADS.

8.       Start in IADS local mode.

9.       Open Configuration Tool.

10.   Select File -> Import

11.   There are three options:  Analysis Window, Desktop, and Configuration Update.

12.   The only one that makes any sense to me is configuration update.   But when I get there, it wants a file with extension iadsUpdate.  I don’t see the option in the Parameter Attributes Dialog to produce this type of file and when I change the name of the file I do create, there are errors in the import process.

What do I need to change in this procedure?

Thanks for your time and patience.

Hi Kelly,

A couple of options:

6) Create Config file
7) Exit the console and Iads
8) Use this config file to startup Iads (I.e. replace your original source
config file)

or

6) Create Excel PDL table (I'm assuming this is a CSV file)
7) Exit the console and Iads
8) Open up the config file in local mode
9) Open up the configuration tool
10) Open up the ParameterDefaults table
11) Right click on ParameterDefaults table, select import CSV file.
12) After import, save, exit, restart Console using this config

It's a mess, isn't it? We're going to make a huge effort next release to
relieve all the setup pain of the system.

Jim
