Subject: Call to Makers for Detroit Now Open
To: matt.o...@gmail.com

We are looking forward to another summer that includes Maker Faire Detroit. Now in its 4th year, Maker Fair Detroit is independently produced by The Henry Ford in collaboration with our partners at Make Media. Join us July 27 and 28 for another year of invention, creativity and resourcefulness.

The "Call for Makers” is now open for this year’s event. If you are interested in participating as a Maker, please apply today at: http://www.makerfairedetroit.com/call-for-makers.  We will accept Maker applications through June 7.

We particularly encourage exhibits that are interactive and that highlight the process of making things.

Here are just a few of things we’d like to see at Maker Faire Detroit:

  • Student projects
  • Robotics
  • Arduino projects
  • Raspberry Pi
  • Space projects
  • Conductive materials projects
  • Kit makers
  • Interactive art projects
  • Textile Arts and Crafts
  • Rockets and RC Toys
  • Green Tech
  • Radios, Vintage Computers and Game Systems
  • Electronics
  • Electric Vehicles
  • Puppets
  • Bicycles
  • Shelter (Tents, Domes, etc.)
  • Unusual Tools or Machines

Stay informed with our website www.makerfairedetroit.com and stay in touch with us on Facebook www.facebook.com/MakerFaireDetroit

We look forward to seeing you soon!

The Maker Relations Team

Bumping this - as there have been inquiries about it, and signup ends June 7th.

Sign up with maker faire directly with your project, and let me know too, so I can keep a list for us just for our information.

Any questions let me know!

My name is Dennis Page and I have been following your public discussion for a few months with an interest in meeting you.

My project, a working scale model of the Grand Haven Musical Fountain (www.pageradio.com/fountain), has been accepted for inclusion in the Henry Ford Maker Faire.

I would like to bring my project to your location before the Faire to meet members of your group and get some pointers on presenting my project at the Faire. Saturdays work best for me, starting June 1.

I have to rent a trailer to transport my project, so the date should be firm.

Please let me know if you are interested in seeing my project at your hacker space.

That's a pretty impressive model Page!!  I think it would be a hit at Maker Faire!

Dennis,

I would like to see your musical fountain. Many of the I3Detroit Members  either exhibit or attend Maker Faire. If your musical fountain is difficult and costly to move, it might be better for you to make us wait until Maker Faire to see it.

Your fountain lights will be hard to see outdoors in the sunlight. Are you planning to exhibit it inside the museum or outdoors?

The Faire has not assigned spaces yet. I requested a low light/indoor space at the Faire. It would be ideal to have enough light to see the mechanics and dark enough to see the effects.

The fountain is easy to move and the cost of a trailer is minimal. I will be happy to schedule a Saturday to bring my project to your space.
