Hey there, laser. How was your trip? Yeah, you crossed an ocean and a continent.

Talk about covering ground fast. Whew. But you're in Ferndale now! I can't believe

you're here so soon.

About that. Are you, you know, are you two buildings away from us? I mean, of course

you are, I can see that. Ha ha!

No, yeah, that's cool. Not moving in right away, that's smart! Take it slow. No need

to move in right away! I heard the driveway concrete will have cured a week from now. The time will be right. We'll wait until everything's perfect.

You comfortable over there? Need anything? Towels?

Hey, I was thinking, pie is a delightful treat. Let's share a slice together. Maybe

share our feelings, ideas, and views. Until then, we'll say goodnight and wander into a dream.

Love,
i3Detroit

Dear Laser,

I didnt think I was the sort of person who could fall in love so
easily. When I saw you outside our shop one morning with your two
friends, shivering in the cold. http://i.imgur.com/Yq7HP.jpg I knew
we would be friends forever.

We brought you inside http://i.imgur.com/gUSI6.jpg

We got you out of your wet clothes http://i.imgur.com/EwNp7.jpg

And made sure you were dry http://i.imgur.com/8bLL4.jpg

Gave you plenty of water, and air (You were so thirsty! almost two
gallons!) http://i.imgur.com/oqGMv.jpg

Carefully built you a nest in the corner http://i.imgur.com/GQt7a.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/ViiZa.jpg

And now you are home! http://i.imgur.com/DbpZy.jpg

We wish we could have taken your friends too, but we gave them our
best wishes and sent them on their way into the world.

Love forever and always,
Sector67

The Enrichment Center is required to remind you that the Weighted Companion Cube Laser cannot talk. In the event that it does talk The Enrichment Center asks you to ignore its advice.

For $59.99 plus shipping it easily could by adding one of these modules:

This thing already shoots deadly lasers and you want me to make it talk too? Add a coffee maker and I'm pretty sure you end up with how the Borg got started...

Too bad the cake is a lie. It would go great with laser-brewed coffee.

Yes, it should be able to tell you it's going to blast you ... if it wants.

I wonder if it would be possible to engineer the system to play "No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to die!" every time it starts cutting. Now begins the endless tug of war between other more important things and my love of a good, cheap joke...

It should be from a randomized list, including quotes like "watch out everybody, I'm about to do science"

Was our laser cutter actually dropped? Or is that Sector 67's idea of a joke?

On a more serious note, given the number of invasive species which
have entered the US via Chinese lumber--the Emerald Ash Borer, for
example--I strongly recommend that these wooden crates be chopped into
kindling and burned, ASAP.

1.  No, that's their (and my) idea of a joke.

2.  There is a fumigation / treatment requirement for any wood crate materials that come into the US.  Maybe this requirement was put in place because of the EAB?

I worked at a export crating company and some of them (critters) survive the process.

Yep and Yep to Roger, crates are required to be fumigated and cannot contain any "solid wood product" internally to make sure all wood is exposed to chemicals.  The laser colors determined what crate went where, they were resident in our parking lot for a few hours while they transferred semi's so as a result some local miscreants went after them with sharpies :-)

On a related note, we've been learning a number of hard/painful lessons with our laser, we'll be enjoying watching you make the same mistakes from afar (unless you send over a few cases of beer I'm told, your choice)  In all seriousness, when you get them inside and start unboxing them give us a call and we'll save you a bunch of time.

Chris

Roger,

That optical component looks like a nail to me too, so keep up the good work!
