Anyone interested in a python class + hack session? Maybe a 2 day thing? We can just steal the videos from: http://code.google.com/edu/languages/google-python-class/ and work through the exercises as a group. I think I could host it, but I would need a few python experts on hand to answer questions. I've taken this before and it's a great crash course. I'm still very much a python beginner-intermediate though.Who are our python gurus?

I'd be interested in this class, as a student, rather than an instructor.
Eric, Python was originally designed as a pedagogical programming language to replace Pascal, while still being useful as a general purpose programming language, unlike BASIC or Pascal.

The content and format of this could all change depending on the class

Of note as well is a class coming up at AHA, taught by our own Xander

I don't have any formal instruction in Python, but I use it day-to-day
at work, used it extensively working on my master's thesis, and
consider myself at least an intermediate-level user. I wouldn't mind
coming and hanging out during these lessons, get to know the crowd a
bit and maybe offer my help if I can.

I would be happy to teach general object oriented programming for
beginners, I am not an expert in python yet but I plan to use it in
the near future and it's always more fun as a group.

I'm not expecting college level educations here, just kind of a rough
intro, get the basics down kinda thing.
