Knowing most of us have some level of Florida ties, I thought I should share this.  A good friend of mine, Eric Kerin has launched Steam Bay a Tampa Bay area hacker/maker space.  It has a long way to go yet (some of you may recall i3's early days).

As is always the case with these things he's looking for interested people.  Pass it around if you know anyone in the area who has been looking for a place to get their hack or make on.

When pointing out that there are hackerspaces all over the place, I
point people to http://hackerspaces.org/wiki/List_of_Hacker_Spaces as
a matter of course. If I knew anyone in Tampa Bay, that's where I'd
send them, too. If Steam Bay got on that list, they would thus be
found by interested parties. Being on that list is free, only takes a
few minutes, and is a rather essential step for any new space. Also, a
"hello world, we exist" post to lists.hackerspaces.org/pipermail/
discuss/ would be a good "pass it around" step!

Thanks Nate, he's already aware of the hackerspace's wiki, though I'm not sure why he hasn't registered a listing.  I sent him a reminder.  The mailing list hello world is a good idea too, which I passed along.

Erm, toddler that was sleeping on my chest decided to reposition at an inopportune time. Anyway, what I was trying to say is that I have a laser cut keychain from http://familab.org/ on my keys that I got as part of a kickstarter. They're in Orlando, and obviously, have a laser cutter.

So there's that. They seem active, and did manage to pull off their kickstarter, so I can imagine they're probably a cool place to visit.
