Removing liquid nails from latex paint without damaging paint.

I think I just have to repaint the wall.  But I am curious if anyone knows a magic solvent that removes liquid nails but not latex paint.  I've read up on it some and it seems like the best method is rubbing alcohol and a wire (garrote).  To make it more complicated. The thing attached to the latex is ABS. So the solvent can't eat that either.

You could try (in a 'hidden' region) either lacquer thinner (already in the shop) or toluene.  Good luck!

you could try softening it with petroleum jelly (carefully rub it on and let sit overnight or longer), then use a 140F heat gun to loosen the adhesive.  not sure what kind of heat latex paint can take, though, so try it in a small area first.

if it's not completely set, and still soft, you might skip the petroleum jelly and go straight for the heat.
