Anyone know where I can get 1" stainless steel ball bearings locally? I
can get them on eBay for $6 each (in small quantities), but if I can
find someone local for about the same price (or better), I'd rather go
there.

Are you looking for the individual balls themselves, or bearing
assemblies (many balls assembled with races, seals, etc)

I'm looking for the individual balls. And, they're for a Rube Goldberg
machine, so they won't even be used for bearing anything. :)

There's a place called Bearing Services in Warren. We used to use them
at my last company. I'm clueless on what their offering is like for
the price you're looking for, though.

How many do you need I have some Japanese pin-balls that are like half
the size of American pin-balls

Pachinko balls.  It's a form of gambling in Japan.  The balls are currency.  My dad has a machine he brought back from Vietnam.  It's very cool.  However, those seem too small for what Paul is doing.

Well, at this point I only have a vague idea of what I'm going to do with them.  They need to be about an inch in diameter and they need to be stainless steel (because they're going to be exposed to water/moisture).  And, I'd like to have a couple dozen.  It sounds like the pachinko balls might be too small, since what I'm looking for is probably about the same size as a standard US pinball.  I'm planning to stop by Bearing Services one of these days; sounds like they should have what I need.  Thanks for the offer, though!

Turns out, they're pretty competitive on price (at least for chrome
steel balls--thanks for that idea, Nick!).
Thanks for the help everyone!

Paul
