I have a friend with a 150 year old Pajot, in need of restoration, for sale. He's in northern California. I know of no other details, such as price, condition of the pieces, etc., but you can contact him for that. His name is Cal and his email address is cal...@sonic.net.

(By the way, if you're new to hurdy gurdies and think this might make a fun project and a cheap and quick way to get yourself an instrument, I'm thinking that's not a good idea. Perhaps others on the list could elaborate as to why. As a non-luthier, I wouldn't personally touch this myself. But in the hands of the right person, a classic could be brought back to life.)

Sorry guys, there's no Pajot available after all.

Apparently there was some misunderstanding on the part of my friend, who passed along the misunderstanding to me, and I dutifully passed it along to all of you.

I am sorry if I got anyone unnecessarily excited about this.

Gorgeous. I wonder how he estimates the vintage. The fashion references suggest that the estimated age might be about right but it seems the piece could also be from some time later.

Hi all - have just had a look at this and as a fashion historian it
doesn't look very 1700s to me! If it's a woman the hairstyle is more
typical of the 1860s. Plus too many people think '1850' means '18th
Century' (a very helpful confusion if you're an antique dealer...).
Couldn't comment on dating gurdies as I'm a novice there
Best

Looks like a man in a turban to me, to the person describing it, too.
