I am originally from the US, but have been living in Italy for the past year (and will continue to do so for at least another). I am picking up my first hurdy gurdy in a few weeks, and it's my intent to teach myself as much as possible. In the event that there's a question that I can't figure out remotely, I'd like to have a few people I can see here in person. While it's likely a long shot, I am polling the audience for a few names of hurdygurdy makers or instructors in Italy.

Check out my site Gurdypedia <http://www.gurdypedia.com> for a lot of hurdy-gurdy related information, including instructional videos to get you started. I have a page listing makers and teachers in each country here<http://www.gurdypedia.com/Directory>- but only know of one in Italy.

Hi Ryan,
You could check out this groups "Edaq Ensemble", Hurdygurdy player, Francesco Bussi, a very fine player and has travelled a lot and has both trad and modern ideas. Another player is Caroline Tallone again trad and modern.
Good luck and pre welcome to the "FAMILY".

There are a lot of young players in the north of Italy close to the French border. The playing standard is pretty good so I suspect there are good tutors. Boudet gurdies in D seem very popular up there. I have some Italian gurdy players as friends on facebook so will investigate for you.
