Amerikai Kongresszusi Delegáció Magyarországon: Megint egyszer eredményesek voltunk! Köszönöm mindazoknak akik írtak a kongresszusi delegáció tagjainak. Érdemes volt! Leveleinkből a bizottság tagjai többször idéztek Budapesten, érdeklődtek a levelekben felsorolt tények részleteiröl. Különösen érdekelte őket az, hogy az amerikai magyarságnak milyen hányada független szavazó, olyan arra a a pártra szavaz, amelyik jobban támogatja Magyarországot? Különösen tájékozottnak, érdeklődőnek és jóindulatúnak mutatkozott Dan Burtonra, a delegáció republikánus vezetője. Leveleink küldését folytatjuk egészen addig, amíg jelentésük el nem hangzik a kongresszusban illetve át nem adják azt a State Deparmentben. A nyár folyamán, amikor már a Republikánus Párt is kiválasztotta elöltjét, nekik is ugyanígy küldjük majd akció-leveleinket.

Gondolom, hogy leveleink is közrejátszott az egyre több tárgyilagos, magyar-barát cikk megjelenéséherz. Kérem, hogy a Magyar Érdekszövetség tagjai folytassák ezt a felvilágosító munkát is, persze higgadt, tárgyilagos és adatdús levelekkel. Ha szükségük van a szerkesztőségek címeire, vagy már megfogalmazott minta-levelekre, megtalálják azokat a korábbi akció-leveleinkben, honlapunkon:

JHU-SAIS Akciónk: Úgy gondolo, hogy az egyetem elnökének és a diákujságok szerkesztőinek küldött leveleinknek is szerepe volt abban, hogy diszkréten megindult annak kivizsgálása, hogy sérti-e az JHU akadémiai tradícióit, érdekeit, a SAIS intézetében működő magyar csoport tevékenysége, beavatkozása a magyar belügyekbe? Reméljük, hogy a washingtoni magyarok személyes kapcsolatot is teremtenek az egyetem illetékeseivel és pontosan tájékoztatják őket az SAIS-csoport tevékenységének céljáról és a részletekről. Az erre vonatkozzó akció-levelünk is megtalálható honlapunkon.
Az HL Résztvevőinek Létszáma: Örömmel kellene azt is említemem, hogy a Magyar Érdekszövetség résztvevőinek létszáma növekszik, de itt azért gondok is vannak, mert az újonnan feliratkozók nem mindig értik, hogy mi is az HL? Míg az évek folyamán összegyült cca. 1,000, többségükben fiatal résztvevője az HL-nek jól értette, hogy mi nem egy levelező kör vagyunk(!), mi politikailag nem vagyunk jobb vagy baloldaliak, minket nem politikai lojalitás vagy ideológiai meggyőződés köt össze, hanem csak az, hogy magyarok vagyunk, olyanok akiket érdekel népünk jövője és segíteni akarunk! Ők, ezek a többségükben fiatal résztvevők értették, hogy az HL szerepe olyan, mint egy hangerősítőé, mert (mint a kongresszusi delegáció esetében is láthattuk) ha egy politikai vezető egy levelet kap, rá se néz arra, ha százakat, akkor felfigyel. Azt is értette ez a közel 10 év folyamán összeállt „csapat”, hogy az HL önkéntes, tehát csak az vesz részt az egyes akciókban, aki egyetért azokkal, de azokról nem vitatkozunk és az időt nem töltjük eltérő véleményeink fejtegetésével.
Nos, az utóbbi hónapokban ez egy kicsit megváltozott, az Hl egy kicsit „felhigult”. Úgy tűnik, hogy munkánk híre terjedni kezdett és ezért olyanok is feliratkoztak résztvevőknek, akik csak kiváncsiak voltak, hogy mit is csinálunk, de dolgozni nem dolgoznak, az akcióinkban részt nem vesznek. Ezért tisztelettel kérem az HL résztvevőit, hogy csak olyannak ajánlják, hogy lépjen közénk, aki dolgozni kiván, mert az HL nem egy levelező csoport, nem egy vita fórum és nem célja, hogy olyanok kerüljenek közénk akik csak unalomüzésként olvassanak akció-leveleinket.
A fenti hosszúra sikerült (éjjel nem tudok röviden fogalmazni) bevezető után alabb felsorolok 6 akció javaslatot, melyekkel remélem, hogy az HL résztvevői közül sokan egyetértenek és megteszik amit javasolok.

Your Honor, Dear Congressman,
I am one of the 1.5 million Hungarian American voters. I am writing to you concerning your recent trip to Hungary and also concerning the letter that Secretary of State Mrs. Hillary Clinton sent to the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in January. In writin that letter, Secretary Clinton must have been influenced by the views of a group of Hungarians working at the SAIS institute of the Johns Hopkins University, including the former Socialist Prime Minister of Hungary Gordon Bajnai and his ambassador to the United States András Simonyi. Because of this influence, -conveyed by SAIS’s Professor Charles Gati -, the letter appears to support the views of the Socialist Party and thereby appears to be trying to influence the internal politics of Hungary.
I am writing to you, because this letter, expresses concern about democracy in Hungary, which on the one hand is unjustified and on the other it harms our longstanding and warm relationship with Hungary, a country that was and still is a pro-American island in the region. I am also writing because that letter causes people like me, to consider switching my vote in the 2012 election to support the party that stands up for Hungary.
As you know, Hungarians are one of the largest and one of the most oppressed national minorities in all of Europe. These minorities became foreigners in the very towns their forefathers built, because after WW1, foreign politicians decided to redraw the borders around them. They lost their schools, their churches, their very identities and even today they have no autonomy. Slovakia for example, is still reinforcing the long-discredited postwar Benes Decrees that stripped ethnic Hungarians of their citizenship, property, forced their mass expulsion from the country and even today revokes Slovak citizenship from and fines dual citizens. Yet, in her letter Secretary Hillary Clinton has nothing to say about” democracy” in those states.
Yet now, when the Hungarian government has finally thrown out her 1949 Constitution, which was inspired by the Soviets, and replaced this 1949 Communist initiated constitution with one approved by the representatives of a free Hungarian Parliament, the letter expresses concern about „democracy” in Hungary!
This letter is concerned about government influence and the protection of the independence of the banks in Hungary, when all that Hungary is doing is making the banks to pay taxes and share in the consequences of their irresponsible lending, plus asking the bank’s officials to swear loyalty to the constitution. Other points in the letter are equally unfortunate, because religion and the media are free in Hungary, no newspaper has ever been shut down by the government and even the Klub Radio (the only example she refers to in her letter) has been restricted, because at the time of contract renewal, other radios bid higher for the frequency band it was using.
It is unfortunate that the letter does not recognize that during the last election the Socialists received only a small percentage of the votes, while the citizens of Hungary voted overwhelmingly for the present government, which this letter criticizes. The support of the present government was also demonstrated on January 21, when Hungary’s largest demonstration ever, was held in it’s support!
I am sure Congressman that you kept your eyes open in Budapest. I know that you have noticed that since the anti-Hungarian media campaign started in the West against the center-right government, the Socialists (who started it) have lost and the far right gained popularity, because people are angered by the attacks of outsiders. I am sure that the real leaders of the nation, (such as the Congressman János Horváth, a former Professor in the United States) explained that such pro-Socialist and anti-Hungarian attacks backfire and in your report you will recommend to reverse the present misguided policy of the State Department.
Please help to reestablish our historic friendship with Hungary. Please remember that in 1956, Hungary lost 2% of her population in her fight against the Soviets, a struggle reminiscent of our American war for independence. She is a natural ally of ours, a potential pro-American island in the region, a NATO ally and a strong democracy. Please request that our officials respect for the right of the Hungarian voters to decide their own future.
I hope you will help to reverse the above described policy and will inform the State Department and Congress of the facts.

Segal Theatre Graduate Center-ében (365 Fifth Ave, NYC between 34th and 35th Sts) Schilling Árpád és Tompa Andrea, mely bemutató után, este félhétkor elbeszélgetnek a megjelentekkel. A résztvétel ingyenes, mert a Trust for Mutual Understanding támogatja azt.
Az előadók a művészet szabadságának magyarországi csökkenéséről (diminishing artistic freedoms) fognak beszélni a megjelenteknek kik nagyrészben a City University diákjai lesznek. Másszóval, megint egyszer magyarországi művészek fogják rombolni hazánk jóhírét, mint t5örtént az korábban a Johns Hopkins és a Princeton egyetemeken. Declaration of the Writers, Artists and Academics of Hungary
We Hungarian citizens, writers, artistx academics, being familiar with everyday life in our country and we also know the consequences of our government’s decisions. With increasing indignation we are observing the libellous attacks against our homeland in the global media. We know that claims concerning Hungary’s ”drift away from democracy” originate mostly from Hungarian intellectuals, writers, philosophers, musicians and journalists, who are well known in the West. What is not so well known in the West is that these intellectuals are affiliated with today’s political opposition and their goal is to destabilize our freely elected government.
For this reason it is imperative that we, the overwhelming majority of Hungarian intellectuals set the record straight. On the one hand, we are grateful for the concern expressed in the Western media for the maintenance of democracy in Hungary. On the other hand, we want to declare in no uncertain terms that it is outrageous to suggest that democracy is in danger in Hungary. What are in danger are the privileges of the post-Communist ruling class. You must know that Hungarians shed their blood for democracy, freedom and independence in 1956 and they still cherish and fully embrace them.
The Hungarian voters elected the present right-of-center government in 2010 with a landslide 2/3 majority. They did it to replace a corrupt post-Communist regime. Today’s conservative government is trying very hard to improve the social and economic conditions of the country, for which the previous socialist government is largely responsible. The present government has shown responsibility, it cares about the human rights of Hungarian minorities elsewhere and it definitely wants us to remain both a democracy and an integral part of Europe, which we were for over 1000 years.
The present government did make mistakes, all governments do, but still enjoys the support of the majority of the population, as was demonstrated by the marching of well over 100,000 Hungarians in their pro-government demonstration on January 21. Yes, the debt accumulated by previous governments is overwhelming and has to be paid. Yes, debt guarantees by IMF/CEB are needed. But still, the spreading of false accusations by the Hungarian opposition, while hiding behind the claim of ” being concerned about democracy” is outrageous. We do not want our future to be decided by lies printed in foreign papers, we want to decide the future of Hungary by using our ballot boxes.
We hope that truth will prevail and both the Western media and the Western public will help us to protect the good name and well being of our nation.

The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) is pleased to announce that author and Pulitzer Prize winner Anne Applebaum will take up the post of Philippe Roman Chair in History and International Affairs at the School for 2012-13. 5) Írjunk Orbán Viktornak
Úgy tűnik, hogy az új átvilágítási törvényről a FIDESZ-KDNP koalíción belül sincs egyetértés, mert egyesek nem kivánják, hogy a törvény mindenkire vonatkozzon, pedig az ellenzék elfogadná azt és nekem is úgy tünik, hogy szükség lenne egy olyan törvényre, mely kivétel nélkül minden magyar állampolgárra vonatkozik és biztosítja, hogy az ország végre megismerje a korábbi rendszer besúgóinak teljes névsorát és álneveiket is. Kérem az HL azon résztvevőit, akik egyetértenek ebben, irjanak Orbán Viktor miniszterelnök úrnak az alábbi címen.
