hi,
i am a casual student of sanskrit. can anyone explain what the word
abhisarika means? it is a proper name, but i guess it's packed with
references.

In the kaavya the abhisaarikaa is a woman who goes furtively in the
night to meet her lover. As far as I know, she may be married (to
another man than the lover to whom she runs) or unmarried. The
abisaarikaa is also the subject of a number of famous paintings I have
seen.
