Hi Mac users,

This is a 32bit bundle of the trunk at svn level 4837 about a week after the merge of the GSOC2009 layout branch with the trunk by James Legg.
James Legg worked on the mosaic layout model for GSOC_2009. Pablo d'angelo added some more functionality to it. In the fast preview you'll get an overview which images align well and which not.

When I published the previous bundle David Haberthür (Habi) showed some images of it on his Flickr account [1][0]. Please take a look at them, especailly [2] if you want to have an idea of it. (And to the rest of Habi's site).

As always: Information and binaries via my website
<http://panorama.dyndns.org/index.php?lang=en&subject=Hugin&texttag=Hugin>.

(The binaries themselves are served from hugin.panotools.org who kindly provide the disk space and bandwidth).

Hoi,
Harry

Hi Harry,

this build crashes on OS X 10.4.11 (after double clicking the .app it
just pops up for a fraction of a second and goes silent again...

I'll also try on 10.5 and report about that in a few moments.

On OS X 10.5.8 hugin starts. But I see some strange behaviour: I load 7
Images shot with a D300 (1.5x crop factor) and a 8mm fisheye lens.
Usually I go to the camera and lens tab, select one image and via the
'load lens' I oad my saved settings for this combination. This will set
all images with the same lens number to the same settings, also for the
crop tab. Not this time: I had to select my lens settings for each
single image to get correct crop settings for them.
Also the 'load lens' button in the Assistant tab seems to ignore my
settings.

Show layout is so cool :-)

Harry, thanks a lot for providing this bundles time after time! This version starts without Problems on Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6.2) and works without any problems. I stitched a panorama of 93 low-resolution images (from a movie) without problems.

The only thing to complain is that the layout is not so cool anymore when you've got 93 images :) as can be seen here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/habi/4259705438/

The whole workflow from movie to aligned slices to final panorama can be seen here: http://habi.gna.ch/u/2n (Link to flickr.com)

Thanks againm, and have a nice sunday.

And I seem to be really liking the "without problems" phrase :) Sorry, my brain must be all mushy from trying to finish a manuscript of a longish paper this week...

No problem. I understood what you meant without problems :-)

The way the snow is cracking when you move your skis/shoes make it sound like a very cold day. I have to wait 6 more weeks before I can enjoy it (well, I hope it's a bit warmer of course).

Hello Harry, hello Carl,

today I downloaded the latest version for MacOS (2010.10-svn4892). I
have a similiar problem like Carl. Starting Hugin nothing happens,
I`m working with 10.4.11.

OK, just downloaded and tried it.... I can confirm this for my PPC G5

Hi,
Can one of you (Ralf and/or Carl) do an "otool -L /usr/lib/libiconv.dylib" in a terminal window? (mind the uppercase -L)

I expect it will say something like:
/usr/lib/libiconv.dylib:
    /usr/lib/libiconv.2.dylib (compatibility version 5.0.0, current version 5.0.0)
    /usr/lib/libgcc_s.1.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 1.0.0)
    /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 111.1.1)
But I just want to make sure.

Hi Harry,

sorry I can't do that (don't understand that), but tomorrow evening a friend will visit us and for him it would be no problem to that action. The problem happens with a Powerbook G4 867.

Thanks,

I will have a look in the coming days.
Either I will modify the XCode build to include the Leopard libiconv.dylib inside the bundle,
or I will build libiconv again separately for Hugin. I'm afraid I have to do the latter.

I have run Harry's OSX 2010.10-svn4892 on both an Intel and PPC G4
running OS X 10.5.8 without any problems. The only time I do
experience "nothing happens" is when the G4 happens to be compiling
something.

Hi Allan,

In this case it's not ppc. It's 10.4.x. The bundles are compiled against libiconv that is available on every OSX system. Due to whatever reason the libiconv version seems to be too low on 10.4.x in the last three bundles.
It means that we need to compile libiconv ourselves now and pack that into the bundle. In that case all libaries/binaries that are compiled against libiconv, are then compiled against the bundle's own internal libiconv.  That will remove compatibility problems.

Yesterday evening I created the script for building libiconv. Now  have to recompile all libraries that use libiconv and then Hugin (and modify the XCode project).

Hello Harry,

for me it works nearby perfect.

I tried to open an older file. Hugin opens the file but when it
starts loading the images Hugin closes itself.

In general much comfortable, very good.

Hi Ralf,

this reminds me of what George described in this other thread:
<http://groups.google.com/group/hugin-ptx/browse_thread/thread/29bdc14ed6739871>

what exact hugin version do you use (svn....), which OS version (10.4,
10.5, 10.6?), what kind of Mac (PPC or Intel)?

I am not able to reproduce this on my Mac, so could you Ralf and George
provide more information? Or even files?

Hello Carl,

that sounds very similar.

Hugins runs on a Powerbook G4 / 10.4.11 The original file was created
with one of latest Huginversions before Hugin 2010 …
Some images were sttitched to a rectlinear image without any problems.

I tried another older project with 4 images same output. Same problem.

Of course I can send you the files

OK, you can send me the complete project files directly or upload them
somewhere + mail the link.

I also have a PB G4 that I could test on, but I already installed 10.5
on that one.

Cheers,

Auto Crop crashed Hugin on this build. Had just optimized a HDR and
recalculated the optimal size. Soon as I hit the auto crop it
crashed. When I tried to reproduce the error I got a slightly
different result, a pop up window announcing "calculating optimal crop
with the barber pole bar with an immediate change in the pointer to
the mac spinning wheel of death. So far as I can tell its a bug.
Running on macbookpro intel core 2 duo with 10.5.8. Please let me
know if you need anything else.
